Trucks and cars help in the winter to get around. Automobiles are good to have because it shields the blizzard from hitting you.  It also helps in the fall when it is raining.  They are used to haul things around from planes to the post offices and the stores.

 

    All Terrain Vehicles and motorbikes are popular in Kalskag because of the graveled roads and in winter the roads are icy.  Sometimes snow covers up the roads making it difficult to drive through, ATV’s are good for this.  We also use these to get wood from the tundra and go berry picking.  Motorbikes are what some kids and teenagers drive going on off road trails or just riding around.  Very few people in Kalskag have motorbikes.

 

    In the winter we use snow machines, which makes it easy to get around.  A snow machine is a vehicle that has tracks and skis, and is similar to the ATV.  This machine is helpful to get firewood in the winter.  It is also used to travel village to village.  Allaneqs come to visit with snow machine.

 

    Trucks, ATVs and other motor vehicles are used around here to get around.  Kalskag has few roads that go different places that everyone likes to drive on. Kalskag is a place you would not get lost.
