I Hear Kasigluk Singing....

By Marie Nicholas

I HEAR KASIGLUK SINGING THE VARIED CAROLS I HEAR,

THOSE OF PEOPLE, EACH ONE SINGING THEIRS AS IT SHOULD BE

LOVING AND SOUNDNESS,

THE STUDENTS SINGING THEIRS AS THEY WALK,

THE DOOR SINGING AS IT CLOSES, AND BEFORE

SHUT, AND SQUEAK,

THE FIRE FIGHTERS SINGING THEIRS AS THEY SPLASH

WATER AND SMELLING SMOKE,

THE POLICEMEN SINGING HIS AS HES JAILING A PERSON,

'CAUSE IT'S THE PERSONS FAULT,

THE SNOW SINING AS IT FALLS DOWN

AND FREEZE,

THE ADMIRED SINGING OF THE GEESE, OR OF THE GOSSLING

GOING TO SOUTH OR GOING HOME

EACH SINGING WHICH IS HIS OR HERS AND THEIRS ALONE

AS DAY GOES TO NIGHT- THE FAMILY GATHERS, LISTENING,

LEARNING,

SINGING IN PRIDE THEIR BALLADS OF THE DAY
