Jennifer's Summer in
Kansas
Jennifer Keim's summer vacation was
not that enjoyable. She said, "I didn't have a nice
summer."
During her summer vacation she had a
chance to visit her family in Kansas. While she was there her father
passed away after an operation. Since she is the oldest child, she
had to help out with her family and keep them company in their
sadness. After the funeral, all the family members were there so
Jennifer visited with all the elders in her family. She also cleaned
up on her family's farm, working with the cattle, giving them shots
because they had sore feet. Other things she did were picking
blackberries to make jam and picking plums to make jam and plum
juice. Jen also made pickled crabapples which are used in Kansas when
you eat meat. And she and her mom made a wedding gift for Tern and
Bill Manumik.
After spending two months with her
family in Kansas she returned to Fairbanks to get ready to teach here
in Marshall again. While she was In Fairbanks she went shopping with
Monica Chi-Benedetti. She shopped for food to be shipped to Marshall
and also got some fabrics for quilting.
The last thing she did for the summer
was close up their home with Frank for the winter.
