If you learn this you will score high with the judges. (I know because I wrote their score sheet.)
A do-able project is one that is practical for you.
A do-able project is not a library project.
Practical. How can we save the dolphins isn't a do-able project, especially for someone in the interior. How do men walk in outerspace isn't a do-able project unless you have a way to simulate zero gravity.
Not library. Students from Northwestern Alaska did very well
one year, and went to the National AISES science fair. The next year they
were quite hopeful, but didn't score well at all. Why? Because the first
year they did science. They experimented. The second year they only did
library research. Their project looked good. There were good models. Their
board looked really good, but this is a science fair, not a library fair.
A good project is backed up by library research discovering what has
gone before, but you need to get your hands on the event. You need to interact
with the process. You need first hand experience.
