Barbara Jimmie

Barbara was born February 15, 1941, at Old Minto to George Titus and Minnie Charlie. Both of her parents were from Old Minto. Her siblings are Earl, and Ivan. Barbara attended school in Old Minto to the 5th grade. She then went to Wrangell for the 6th and 7th grade.

Barbara then attended Mt. Edgecumbe for the 8th grade. She had no further formal education. She would be away from her family for nine months at a time.

September 14, 1958, Barbara married Andy Jimmie. Together they have five children: Laverne, Andrean, Loretta, Douglas, and Teresa Ann (deceased). Barbara says that she never worked formally, just took care of her children.

She and Andy are currently raising two of their granddaughters.

Andy's jobs took them to many places, they lived in Colorado for two years, Anchorage for one year, Nenana for three months, Fairbanks for two years, and in Minto for the majority of the time.

Barbara looks forward to summer when she can pick blueberries. She also enjoys fabric sewing with needle and thread.

Barbara says, "I hope that someday our grandchildren will look back and read about what their grandparents used to do."
