If I Were Davin
Coburn
Hi,
my name is Davin Coburn. On the
tenth year of my mom and dad's divorce I am deciding what I
am going to do during my
Christmas vacation. It is pretty hard to choose because if I decide
to spend Christmas with dad, mom might not feel very good about it
and vice versa. So I asked the both of them, and we decided that this
year I would spend Christmas with mom and then come back here to
Columbia, Maryland, whefe I am currently living with my dad, and
spend the NewYear with him.
On Christmas Eve I caught a flight to
Washington D.C., where my mom is now living and has a job as a
federal clerk. She met me at the airport, and it seems
as
she is changing every time I
see her. We drove to her house and I was surprised that she recently
found a new boyfriend whose name is Brad. Anyway, he was a real pain
and I didn't like him because it seemed as if he didn't enjoy my
presence there either. Mom fixed up a delicious turkey dinner and the
three of us had a good conversation, but I still thought Brad was a
pain because he expects too much of my mom.
On Christmas morning we opened our
presents. I got a Discman from mom and Brad, and dad and
I
gave mom a 35 mm camera. It
seemed like she enjoyed it very much. The rest of the day we all sat
down and watched football and basketball games and also some
Christmas shows. It was an experience because I usually don't watch
sports or even any television with my mom. The next day I went back
to Columbia and was all ready to spend the New Year with
dad.
