Paul M. Cochran, S.J.
Roman Catholic Priest
Paul Cochran was born in Walla Walla, Washington in 1962, and grew
up there also. He went to Walla Walla High School (Wa-Hi), and then
to college at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington, where he
studied philosophy and computer science. He graduated with a Master
of Divinity from Regis College in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Paul has been working here since August, 1997 and plans to work
here for maybe two or three more years. He likes his job because he
gets to meet people from many different places, travel to new places,
and to help in strengthening Catholics in their faith and daily
lives. He was first interested in his job when he was going to
Gonzaga University where there were priests who were his teachers.
The kind of training he needed before he got his job was both college
studies and mentoring by others. The kind of training he has needed
and received since getting his job is mostly on-the-job training with
other priest, sisters, and local people.
He feels his job keeps him stimulated because he says, "you can
never predict people or their needs." The best things about his job
are the new challenges and opportunities to meet people and go
places. The worst thing is that he doesn't get a chance to settle
down for a long period of time in one place.
