Paul Burned all the Men on the
Yukon
"This past summer I commercial fished during the
king season with Leo Fitka Sr. and Larry Evan. We fished at my camp
which is located 15-20 miles up the river.
At the beginning of the season we got all our gear
together and headed for my fishcamp. When we got there it was time to
fish, so we started our first set. We didn't realize then that it
would be such a good fishing season.
As we continued to fish the run started to pick
up. And when we pulled in our net we caught a huge King salmon. It
was so big and heavy it took all three men to pull in the net. We
were freaking out because it was the biggest King salmon we'd ever
caught. We were also happy because it weighed over 60 pound and
measured over one foot in width.
According to the Marshall Fish Processor, we
caught the most fish here in
Marshall this past summer. I won a free cable dish
for that but didn't take it. Instead I took a tote and a brand new
King net."
Paul Boots
Five Foot Pike!
"One time my wife and I went up to Shageluk to
camp for a couple of days. We were a little ways below Shageluk when
we decided to set a net so we could have some fish to eat later in
the day. Three hours later we went to check the net to see what we
caught. When we were done pulling in the net we had eight big pike
and some of them were five feet long. We ate very good that night
because of the big fish we caught in our net."
