Standoff!
"One day back in 1968, Simeon Sergie
and I got ready to go out moose hunting. We were'nt sure where we
were going to go but finally we decided to go up above Kwik to check
out a little meadow. While we were walking in the meadow we saw a
bull moose. But, as we sneaked closer to get a better shot, the moose
took off into the trees. Then we decided to drive it out toward the
beach so it would not be so hard to pack back to the boat. We were
already tired from the long walk into the meadow and from chasing the
moose. I told Simeon to
be sure to shoot the moose
quickly if it charged me. Sure enough, when we. got to the beach the
bull came out charging. It was heading right toward me. When it was
really close, though, I started to run and yelled at Simeon to shoot.
But he never shot it because he was so scared, so I stopped and
pointed my gun at it. But I was too scared too, and I couldn't shoot
It. Then the moose came to a dead stop, and just stood there watching
me for a couple of seconds before it took off back into the
trees."
