Drugs on the
Freeway
One day I went to visit my friends
Bob Dole and Clark Dales. We decided to go for a ride out on the
town. We went to the store to get some stuff and to a restaurant
because we got hungry. Then we decided to go to a party that was
going on not too far away from where we were. When we got there the
party was already going on. The party lasted for three more hours,
then we got ready to go home. Bob looked as if he could drive, but
Clark was wasted. And, as for myself, I didn't have much at all. As
we were heading home, Bob was driving OK at first, but a few minutes
later we started swerving down the road. I looked at Bob and asked, "Are you
all right?"
When he looked at me I noticed the
alcohol and drugs had hit him hard and he was as drunk as a skunk. He
also had a little bottle of Vodka he was drinking from as he drove.
We were going faster and faster and I finally asked him if I could
drive. But he was too high. So I struggled with him to take over the
wheel. As we were struggling we didn't see the curve in the road.
When I felt the car leave the road I slammed on the brakes! We broke
through some bushes and stopped abruptly. I got out and looked around
and saw a bright light. I thought to myself, O my god I must be dead!
But when I heard someone yell, "Are you guys all right?" I knew we
weren't dead, and said, "Yeh, we're all right."
The guys who found us helped us back
on the road, then I drove home. Out of the blue, Clark said, "Did we
win yet?" I figured that he was dreaming of racing or
something.
The next week we went to another
party but this time I was the designated driver. This party was as
wild as the other one. And, as usual, the guys got drunk again. Once
the guys even got in a fight with some boys from another part of town
and I had to break it apart because someone would probably have
gotten hurt. After that I brought the boys home.
The next day when I saw them, Bob and
Clark were real worried that their drinking was out of control. So
they asked me to go with them to Charter North where they enrolled
for therapy.
I saw the boys yesterday for the
first time in three months, and they were doing good. We went to a
movie together, and, wow, they'd sure changed a lot! They don't even
want to drink anymore. I'd say the treatment really helped
them.
