Agnes Boliver's Very Lazy
Summer
Agnes summer was a lazy summer for
her. All she did was cut a few fish, pick some berries, go to Bingo
and visit some villages along the Kuskokwim and Yukon Rivers with the
Marshall Fiddlers.
This summer all she cut were King
salmon. She cut flat fish, strips, and back bones. She had wanted to
cut some more but nobody fished for her. Gerilyn and Juliana Fitka
also cut Dog salmon and Silver salmon for her so she didn't really
have very much to do. They helped her pick some berries
too.
When asked what the most exciting
event of the summer was for her, she replied, "The most exciting
thing that happened to me this summer was when my daughter, Caroline,
and her son, Cory, who is one year old came home from Fairbanks to
visit." The happiest, busiest, and most fun-filled two weeks were
from the first to the thirteenth of August when Caroline and Cory
were here. She couldn't believe how much Cory had grown and how
mischief he'd become, and she was very excited to finally have them
home again.
On one of the trips she went on with
the Marshall Fiddlers, she won a quspak, which she gave to her
godchild, Gerilyn Fitka. She won it in Akiak during the first week in
July. It was a very pretty quspak which she'd bought only one ticket
for. Her husband, Camille, drew her ticket for the winning
number.
"All in all, my summer was boring,
relaxing, exciting, and lazy all at the same time,"she said. She
hopes next summer will be more exciting and worthwhile.
