Alvin's Busy
Summer
"This spring after break-up I went
set netting for summer Kings. King salmon soup tastes good,
especially after not eating King salmon for so long. In late spring I
started doing subsistence drift netting becaused I wanted to fill up
our fish house as much as possible.
When commercial fishing started I
worked for Mas. Inc. as a fish buyer with the tender boats. My deck
hand helper was Herman George. Between openings I would go drifting
for subsistence fish I'd also collect smoke wood for the fish
house.
After commercial fishing was over, I
volunteered to work with many others on building the new
church.
Another exciting event for me this
summer was my son, Robert, and Palassa got married. Robert wanted me
too marry them, so I did. After the wedding a potlach was held in the
community hall. I was glad too see everyone at the polatch. To those
that helped with setting up the wedding and the to people that
brought food to the hall I would like to say, 'Thank you, we couldn't
of done it without you.'"
