Lots of
Moose
"On September 5, my friend Raymond
Waska and I went up river to a place below Holy Cross where we camped
for three days. The first night that we camped there, nine moose came
out. Eight cow moose were surrounding a bull. We tried to hunt the
bull, but we couldn't see him because of all the cows, so went back
to our tent and slept. For the next couple of days three to four cow
moose would come out, but the bull wouldn't show up. Finally, on the
third day, one of the cow moose and the one bull came out, so we got
our guns and hunted the bull. After shooting it, we cut it up and put
the meat in the boat. I had already caught one this year, so Raymond
took the moose. Then we packed up our gear and started heading home.
Not long after we arrived in all, Raymond took off for his home in
Emmonak."
