My Trip to St. Mary's

A couple years ago in November, Olga, Fred, Marcia, Jackie, Jason and I traveled down to St. Mary's for shopping and just for the heck of it. The day we were going down the weather was really nice, the sun was shining and it was a good day to travel by snow machine.

When we got below Pilot Station, Jackie and Marcia started having snow machine problems, so they had to turn around and head back to Pilot. Jackie said they'd be at Pilot waiting for us, but if they got tired of waiting they'd head on home after the snow machine was fixed. So Fred, Olga, Jason and I continued on down to St. Mary's. When we got there, we stopped at the AC Value Center where we shopped for a couple of hours and then decided to head on home.

After putting our warm clothes on we were on our way. Just as we were about to leave though, it started snowing really hard. Then it got to be a complete white-out. It was so bad we lost the trail markers and we ended up following the Andrafski River. Olga was getting grouchy and said we should just go back to St. Mary's until the weather cleared up. I was getting a little grouchy too, but hoped we would find the trail sooner or later. After searching for the trail for about an hour, Fred and Olga finally found it. Then we stopped to take a break. We were all really relieved we found the trail! If we hadn't we'd have had to go back to St. Mary's and stay there until the weather cleared up. Or we'd have had to camp out. Horrors!
