Excerpt:
Findings from the Institute of Education Sciences' practice guide Dropout Prevention will be the focal point of this one-day REL Northwest event. The guide offers six evidence-based recommendations for preventing students from dropping out of school. At the forum, participants will hear from Dr. Russell Rumberger, an author of the guide; share professional challenges and successes during table group discussions; and explore specific ways they can use the research to focus dropout prevention efforts in their schools and districts. Participants will leave with draft written plans to take action toward dropout prevention. This workshop is designed for superintendents, principals, school board members, school dropout prevention committee staff, and state-level staff involved in dropout prevention.
