==================================

Hello, Language Immersion Fans,

Senator Murkowski thought some of you might be interested in an article published in The Language Educator this past August, in which she responds to questions about the importance of foreign and indigenous language study. I now have a link to the article, thanks to Janice Gullickson, World Languages Coordinator for the Anchorage School District. Thanks, Janice!

Senator Murkowski talks about the importance of foreign language study for her two boys, Americans in general, and the nation. She also discusses why she included flexibility for Alaska Native language immersion programs in her bill to amend NCLB and the President's proposal for funding foreign language programs. The article is available at http://www.asdk12.org/depts/world_lang/advocacy/LisaMurkowski_Interview.pdf.
