The International Arctic Research Center (IARC) is offering limited partial travel support for researchers to attend the International Polar Year (IPY) Oslo Science Conference, which will be convened 8-12 June 2010 in Oslo, Norway. Further information on the conference is available at http://www.ipy-osc.no.

Applications are sought from students, post-doctoral researchers, faculty, and investigators at U.S. institutions. Young investigators, students, and members of under represented groups are especially encouraged to apply. Travel support will also be offered to a small number of educators who are actively engaged in presenting information on polar studies in their classrooms.

Successful applicants must present a talk or poster at the symposium and
must be enrolled at or employed by a U.S. institution. Deadline for abstract submission to the IPY-OSC is Wednesday, 20 January 2010. More

Selection of applicants for travel grants will be based on relevance of research topic to conference themes, which are listed at: http://www.ipy-osc.no/section/1245938774.04. Priority will be given to students, young scientists, and members of under represented groups. The awards are expected to be in the $1500 to $3000 range with lesser amounts awarded to better-established applicants. All associated air travel must be on US-flagged carriers. Funding has been provided by the National Science Foundation Office of Polar Programs.
