from Alaska Native Knowledge Network - Monday, 11 October 2010, 11:39 am

The Arctic Sounder published this article October 8.

Excerpt:
The North Slope Borough School District has officially adopted the framework it will use to integrate Inupiaq knowledge into its school system at all levels.

"We're nowhere near done but really truly this is a historic turning point for our district," said Jana Harcharek, director of Inupiaq education at the School District.

The Inupiaq Learning Framework was years in the making, beginning when Harcharek traveling to all the villages in the district to ask communities a question - what should an 18-year-old Inupiaq today know and be able to do?
