Two-Week Institute for Native Youth

Dear Colleagues,

As many of you may know, Helen Augare, Director of the Blackfeet Native Science Field Center at Blackfeet Community College, and I have been working to support the development of new Native Science Field Centers since 2006 with funding from the National Science Foundation. The three existing Native Science Field Centers (http://nativesciencefieldcenters.org/) now develop culturally-relevant environmental science field programs for youth and adults that integrate traditional knowledge and Native language.

We would like to know if you, or someone you know, may be interested in organizing two week summer science institutes for Native youth ages 12-18? Our aim is to identify individuals and organizations that may be interested in receiving training and financial support from the Native Science Field Centers, if we are able to gain support from the National Science Foundation for the broader implementation of this program.

We are preparing to submit a proposal on December 5, so we would appreciate hearing from you soon. Please feel free to give me a call at (406) 581-0824 or send an email to bsawyer@hopamountain.org.

Thank you in advance for your time and interest.

All the best, Bonnie
