Angayuqaq Oscar Kawagley Award for Contributions to Native Ways of Knowing
In recognition of Angayuqaq Oscar Kawagley's inimitable role in articulating the significance of Indigenous knowledge systems, ways of knowing and worldviews in the contemporary world, the Alaska Native Knowledge Network has established the AOK Indigenous Scholar Award in his honor. The Award will be presented annually to recognize and encourage Indigenous scholars who have made exemplary contributions to our understanding of Indigenous knowledge systems and Native ways of knowing in Alaska. The 2015 award will be presented at the Alaska Native Studies Conference March 6-8 in Fairbanks. Nominations of potential candidates, including background information, should be forwarded to the Alaska Native Knowledge Network at fyankn@ankn.uaf.edu. Deadline for nominations is Jan. 31, 2015. |
