"For years one of my chief ambitions has been to write about my people so that the truth will be known about them. The following pages represent an attempt to fulfill this ambition.

"Although not exclusively for children, the language is intended to be sufficiently simple to bring understanding of the Eskimo to those in the formative years.

"I deal with the three basic necessities of life as related to the Eskimo, namely: shelter, clothing and food, as well as hunting and fishing through which the basics are provided."
