Excerpt:
"The paper considers the Berger Report as a contribution to the literature on the revitalization of indigenous cultures. After briefly discussing the origins of the Berger Commission and the impact of its Reports, the author identifies ten themes in the Report to show its affinity to the 'metropolis-hinterland' perspective. In the two final sections of the paper, the relevance of the Report to revitalization movements in Asia, Africa and Latin America is discussed."
