"The Northwest Alaska Alcoholism Project was initiated in response to wide concerns in the NANA region about the scope of local alcohol abuse, factors associated with alcohol abuse, and treatment plans and other resources that might be adapted to the region's needs. No none in the region needed to be convinced that there was a problem; both commonsense and recent research (such as the Regional Strategies survey) indicate overwhelming agreement on this point."
