Excerpt:
"Alaska is one-fifth the size of the contiguous forty-eight states. If an Alaskan map were superimposed on a map of those forty-eight states, Ketchikan, in southeast Alaska would be located in Florida; the extreme western portion of the Aleutians would be in the southern part of California; Point Barrow, in the extreme north, would be located in Minnesota near the Canadian border; the island chain at its nearest point to the mainland of Alaska would be extended down below the panhandle in Texas."
