Excerpt: "The Alaska Native Home Base Video Project is a special project funded by the United States Department of Education to the Central Council Tlingit and Haida Head Start Program. These videos are created for parents and caregivers of young children and designed for use in facilitated group settings and then for in-home use with an early childhood specialist. In addition, all programs will be able to be viewed and enjoyed around Alaska on various broadcast channels. A curriculum of activities is also available for viewers to extend the ideas and issues brought up in each tape.

Parent's Journal
This beautifully edited series covers issues of concern to parents of prenatal, infant and toddler age children. Through the intimate relationships and life stories of capable mothers and fathers, these videos capture many of the important topics of parenthood for today's Alaskan Native parents while connecting all of the traditional values of the Tlingit and Haida Indians of the Southeast Alaska.

Family Feathers These thought-provoking videos explore a variety of issues for parents of preschool-aged children. By combining the historical perspective from elders with current research about how preschoolers grow and develop best, this powerful series acknowledges the strengths Tlingit and Haida parents bring to the parenting role while providing new information about the toughest job in the world."
