"INTRODUCTION

Rain affects everybody. It is very difficult to ignore. It influences the type of clothing people wear, the food they eat, their occupations, the places they inhabit, and the things they say. This unit has been developed to examine these influences and to explain how and when rain occurs.

Continuous rain is not essential to the completion of this unit. Many of the activities can be carried out in the classroom if it is not raining. For study purposes, some planning is necessary to take full advantage of the rain when it does fall. For some of the activities, it may be useful to set up an equipment table outside under cover to prevent students from running in and out of the school to complete an activity."
