"This book offers an overview of stream life and provides guidelines for protecting and restoring our local creeks. You may want to restore a stream that flows by your house, or simply monitor it to prevent future degradation. You may want to organize a group of neighbors to protect a local watershed. You may already belong to a fish or wildlife organization that would like to enhance a fish run or to increase local wildlife populations. You may want to use a fish-raising aquarium or stream enhancement project as an educational experience for your class, Scout, or 4-H group. Or you may want to learn more about stream problems on a national level. In any case, the best way to start is to find a nearby creek and wade in. Here goes..."
