Muktuk Marston in his introduction relates how met Henry Varnum Poor in Nome in 1943 and convinced him to come along on the Ada to supply the Eskimos of the Alaska Territorial Guard with guns and ammunition. The ship was marginal and the seas were fierce and the adventures many all recorded in Henry's diaries and sketches.
