Referenced by: Alaska Yukon Library

Grade Level(s): 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11

Theme(s): Tribe/Community, ANCSA, Living in Place

This attractive publication was created by the necessity to introduce the native people of northwestern British Colulmbia to the larger world. Because they were the only First Nation in British Colulmbia formally negotiating the Land Question with federal and provincial governments they felt the need to explain themselves to the larger world....."Because of our concerns about misinformation, confusion and anxiety over land claims we produced this booklet in the hope it will clarify issues, describe our aims, and encourage dialogue." They did a very good job and this could well be used as a model for other communities and organizations. Included are maps, black and white photographs of individuals including children, a useful listing of Definitions such as Aboriginal Title- Matrilineal-First Nations and a Chronology.
