In September 1913, the Arctic exploratory ship KARLUK was trapped in a sea of moving ice, crushed and destroyed. Left stranded on the sea ice was a crew of sailors and scientific observers abandoned by Steffanson. This is the story of death and survival on Wrangel Island.
