In his ten years of travelling from Russia to Russian America to California Voznesenskii brought back to the Imperial Academy of Sciences 3,687 mammal, bird, fish specimens, 10,000 insect specimens, the bones and skull of a sea cow, fossils, ores, garments, weapons, utensils of native peoples, 93 sketches and colored pictures. "The diversity and quantity of the collections brought back were staggering."
