The Joint Federal-State Land Use Planning Commission was created by ANCSA in 1971 and is headed by the Governor of Alaska and by a Federal Co-Chairman appointed by the President of the United States. Four Commissioners were appointed by the Secretary of the Interior and four by the Governor of Alaska. The purpose was to provide a statewide land use planning process that would insure the economic development of the State in a manner that is compatible with the social and ecomomic well being of the public, their interests and the environment. There have been many conflicts of interest. This is the Commissions' Report.
