This was written to be the definitive textbook on ANCSA. Unfortunately the author overestimated the background of the intended reader and wrote with a vocabulary most suited to University Graduate Students. There are many photographs, maps and graphs and an excellent Appendices.

In 1976 Lucille Frey of THE LEARNING TREE contracted with the Alaska Unorganized School District and produced a series of booklets for students simplifying Arnold's text and titled after the chapters in Arnold's book beginng with EARLIEST TIMES VOL. I and concluding with Vol 9 SHAPING THE FUTURE. These are very easy to read but do not contain much information.

In 1975 the Alaska Department of Education and the Center for Northern Education Research at the University of Alaska Fairbanks produced a series of booklets on The Native Land Claims including articles by Harold Napolean, Walt Parker, Guy Martin, Steve Conn and Bob Weeden.

The Alaska Legal Services Corporation (Mariclaire Hale) also produced some student booklets ALASKA NATIVE CLAIMS SETTLEMENT ACT EDUCATIONAL HANDBOOK with illustrations by Karen Kohout.
