The first edition of this book was recalled by the publishers after a threatened law suit by the then current governor of South Dakota and one of the FBI agents involved. Peter Matthiessen documents the FBI persecution of the American Indian Movement on and around the Pine Ridge Sioux reservation in South Dakota during the mid 1970's.
