By Sister Goodwin (Elizabeth Freda Hope), Iñupiaq poet from Kotzebue. 1951-1997. Her publisher, Ishmael Reed of Oakland, California (I.Reed Books) has stated that this collection is the first book of poetry published by an Iñupiaq. The collected prose and poetry of Sister Goodwin will be published in late 1998 by Raven's Bones Press.
This book of poetry beautifully illustrates the important things in life for this author from Kotzebue, Alaska. The poems are written in English with some Iñupiaq and Tlingit words included.
