"Section 2(c) of ANCSA mandated a study of federal programs. This report is a collection and interpretation of statistical data concerning (1) the socio-economic circumstances of Alaska Natives; (2) twenty federal programs of major benefit to Natives; and (3) a survey of Native opinions concerning federal programs and Natives' needs. Over 1,500 Native adults were interviewed as part of this study. The study does not make any specific recommendations, but does show the need for such federal programs."1
