The fifth short book in a series of nine. "The Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act is one of the most significant land transactions in history. It is also an extremely complex act, so much so that lawyers many years afterwards are still arguing about interpretations of some aspects of it. This mini-text attempts to explain the main parts of the act briefly and succinctly. Basic to an understand of the Act is an understanding of the workings of a corporation. This involves learning a staggering amount of economic terminology."1 The series is based on the 1976 Robert D. Arnold text: Alaska Native Land Claims. Other books in the series: Earliest Times, Volume 1; American Indians and Their Lands, Volume 2; Alaska Natives and the Land, Volume 3; The Land Claims Struggle, Volume 4; The Money Settlement, Volume 6; The Land Settlement, Volume 7; Settlement Act Organizations, Volume 8; and Shaping the Future, Volume 9.
