The second short book in a series of nine. "The intent of text two is not to cover the whole scope of American Indian History. It is rather to give students some understanding of that part of their history which eventually affected the enactment of the Alaska Claims Settlement Act. Flory Vinson revised this book from the original Alaska Native Land Claims text, attempting to capture for students the feeling of anger that Indians must have felt as more and more of their lands were taken from them."1 The series is based on the 1976 Robert D. Arnold text: Alaska Native Land Claims. Other books in the series: Earliest Times, Volume 1; Alaska Natives and the Land, Volume 3; The Land Claims Struggle, Volume 4; Alaska Native Land Claims Settlement Act: an introduction, Volume 5; The Money Settlement, Volume 6; The Land Settlement, Volume 7; Settlement Act Organizations, Volume 8; and Shaping the Future, Volume 9.
