"The author notes certain similarities of setting between two pieces of legislation (the state of the economy, the legislations' goals, and Indian-white relations). She contends that failure to legislate safeguards in the Dawes Act led to dissipation of the Indians' property then, and urges a modern remedy to avoid such a recurrence with ANCSA."1
