Excerpt from Introduction:

"Inuit feel that their children need to take the best part of the past and the best of the new ways to create a future for themselves, based on a solid sense of who they are, and strong feelings of confidence and self-respect. This can best be achieved by having all the key people in a child's life work together for the benefit of the child. It means that children should be educated in Inuktitut, Innuinnaqtun or Inuvialuktun. Children should also be surrounded by storytellers who are teachers, elders, and other key people in the child's life. Children should know their history and take pride in their heritage. This curriculum tries to address these very important needs."
