YUP'IK STUDIES OUTCOMES

SURVIVAL SKILL
OUTCOME 1: Students will develop skills and knowledge to survive in the wilderness using traditional methods & modern technology.

TRAPPING, FISHING, HUNTING
OUTCOME 2: Students will demonstrate skills and knowledge of traditional and modern trapping, fishing, hunting methods.

HOLIDAYS/FESTIVALS
OUTCOME 3: Students will demonstrate understanding and appreciation of traditional holidays, festivals, and celebrations through observation, gaining knowledge, participation, practice, and creativity in which traditions and customs will be revitalized.

TRADITIONAL CRAFTS
OUTCOME 4: Students will demonstrate knowledge, skills, and appreciation of traditional crafts through the use of available resources in which the final products have aesthetic value.

HOME MAKING ACTIVITIES
OUTCOME 5: Students will gather, prepare, and store local foods, through safe and traditional methods.

PERSONAL/FAMILY/COMMUNITY
OUTCOME 6: Students will understand the importance of relationships amongst the immediate family, extended family and community as it relates to local cultural values and traditions.

HISTORY
OUTCOME 7: Students will develop an understanding and appreciation of family and community history, beliefs, customs, and values through the involvement of the elders.
