Excerpt from Introduction:

The State of Board of Education has identified the need to "improve the educational experiences of students" and has identified goals to achieve this objective. One of the goals is to "provide state leadership in identifying and disseminating successful instructional characteristics and model programs." The Promising Practices Program is a process which not only identifies model programs, but also recognizes programs that have reached a level of achievement that can be shared with others. It encourages Alaska educators to share their most successful solutions to providing the best education possible for students. The Department of Education has been committed to this process for the past eleven years.
