"Malaise of the Spirit describes an experienced teacher's difficulties in a large regional town with severe tensions between the Caucasian and Eskimo students and serious distrust between the teachers and the community. The case describes a fight between a Caucasian and Eskimo student that broke out in the classroom, how the teacher handled it, the teacher's efforts to understand and resolve the fundamental educational problems in this situation, and what finally happened."
