"This annotated bibliography on the Aleuts is one in a series of selected, annotated bibliographies an Alaska Native groups that is being published by the Institute of Social, Economic and Government Research. Forthcoming bibliographies in this series will collect and evaluate the existing literature on Eskimo and Southeastern Alaska Tlingit and Haida groups.

"ISEGR bibliographies are compiled and written by institute members who specialize in ethnographic and social research. They are designed both to support current work at the institute and to provide research tools for others interested in Alaska ethnography. Although not exhaustive, these bibliographies indicate the best reference on Alaska Native groups and describe the general nature of the works." Victor Fischer
