"This survey is limited to research on socialization by informal methods. It does not cover studies of formal classroom education. The period when fieldwork was done: approximately 1955 to 1975; the societies; Alaskan Eskimo, both Inuit and Yuit although there is more attention to the former. Regarding the five persons' publications - a sample of studies by people from different disciplines - we will look at the types of problems or subjects addressed, the scientists' methods, interpretations and contributions."
