Detailed Description
Baneberries can be red or white, as few as two berries can kill a child. Help students to identify the poisonous plants which grow in their area. The berries that are listed above are edible. They can be eaten raw, cooked, mashed, jelled or made into akutaq.

ACTIVITIES: Field trips, collect leaves, pick berries, make akutaq, jam, jellies, press plants, laminate, label and make into books, find the medicinal uses. Resource people can be invited to the classrooms to talk about the plants they use for medicine, or pick to eat or preserve for winter use.
