This nice spruce root basket was made by a Sitka Thlingit woman (name unknown) and taken in part payment for a Home-Hygiene Textbook in 1932 by the village nurse Lila Brougher.

This spruce root basket, with braided handle, was woven by Mrs. Willis Hoolis -a Sitka Thlingit, woman, and presented as a Christmas gift to Lila L. Brougher (Village nurse) December 25, 1932.

This spruce root basket was made in 1930 by a Sitka Thlingit Indian woman (name unknown). The design is "waves-of-the-sea", in plain and dyed grass, on a background of spruce root dyed with hemlock bark.

This spruce root basket, with tab handles, was made for Selina Williams Hamna to use as a blueberry pail, by her grandmother Mrs. Charlie Williams in 1934 when Selina was a child. It was sold to Lila Berg by Selina's mother, Mrs. Cyrus Williams in) March 1959. The red seed stitch of the pattern are dyed spruce roots. (Sitka)

This spruce root basket was made by Mrs. Christine (Peter) Davis, a Sitka Thlingit Indian woman, in May 1931 to pay Nurse Lila L. Brougher for her Home Hygiene textbook.

This spruce root basket was made by Mrs. Kitty Dawson, a Thlingit Indian woman of Sitka, Alaska about 1930. Purchased in 1940 by Lila Berg.

This spruce root basket was made by Mrs. Alex Andrews (Annie), a Sitka Thlingit Indian woman in September 1958, and purchased that year by Mrs. L.C. Berg.

This old spruce root cup was probably made one hundred years ago in Sitka by a Thlingit Indian woman. It was found in 1942 by the Government nurse, Miss Christine Sorrill in an old house in the village at Sitka. Obtained by Lila Berg for her collection.

This small spruce root basket with braided handle was made by a relative of Mrs. Hoolis at Hoonah, Alaska. The pattern is made of grass prepared (dyed) by Mrs. Hoolis's mother many years ago. The basket was presented to Mrs. Lila Berg by Mrs. Willis Hoolis January 7, 1948 as a Russian Christmas gift.
