Habitat: Spectacled bears are found in Venezuela, Colombia, Bolivia, Panama, Brazil and Argentina. And they stay way up in the Andes mountains from 6000 ft. to 13,800 ft., above the snow line.

Body: They have light-colored rings around their eyes which look like eyeglasses. The bears have fewer ribs than other bears, only 13 pairs of ribs. They are 7.25 ft long and have a short tail. They also have powerful jaws.

Hibernation: They hibernate way up the Andes mountains starting in June. When they hibernate they have one to three cubs between November and February.

Reproduction: They teach their young how to live on their own and to survive. They show them how to catch food, where to get it and how to get it.

Food: They eat fruit, sugarcane, corn and honey. They also eat plants, leaves, palm nuts, cactus and bromeliad hearts. They also eat other animals if they have to.
