Bears Run Wild by Flora M. Evan: Bears run wild over the vast, open tundra,
Leaving behind ferocious tracks,
Looking for berries and roots
To prepare for the long winter's hibernation.
Bears run wild to escape
terrifying human beings,
Their thick, shaggy fur
protecting them from
the sun's summer heat,
Their deep, loud breathing
shows they are afraid.
Bears run wild through the
thick willows,
Breaking through branches
and twigs,
Not stopping even for a
pause
To feel the tundra's
surroundings
Or take a bite of their
delicious, sweet roots.

Bears run wild along streams
filled with fish,
Catching the scent of berries
near and far on the tundra,
Wanting to eat both fish and
berries to fill their empty
stomach,
To taste the food it grew up
with,
They still remember what they are taught to eat.
Bears run wild over the tundra,
To escape people,
Through thick willows,
By streams full of fish,
To live off their rich tundra home,
To make themselves happy.
Bears run wild because they have a special place in this
world.
