Big Bear by Leslie Hunter:One day in the springtime when my father went hunting with his brother Bruce, they came upon one of their favorite bear hunting places. This place was called Devil's Elbow. It was well known for always having bears in the slough because of the high flood waters that blocked the bears from going anywhere. As they were traveling up the slough, they came upon a meadow they wanted to take a look at. So they stopped their boat and started walking up to the open grassy meadow. Just as they got to the meadow they saw a lot of fresh bear tracks all over the ground. Right then and there they knew that they had come to the right place. They bent down and began to sneak to the center of the meadow with extreme caution, listening and watching for the bear. They were there for about 15 minutes when at last they saw a big Brown bear walk out from the trees. They immediatley loaded their guns and waited for the bear to come closer to them. When the bear was about 100 feet away, they both shot at it with supreme accuracy. "Thug!" went the bear as it hit the ground. Then they slowly moved closer to the bear, and after making sure it was dead, began to skin it. It took them about one hour to skin it and another half an hour to pack it to their boat. When they were done they went home and feasted on the meat they had caught.
